Progress Report - Feb 7th
Progress is going well - I am having some minor issues involving the engine I am using so I can't really fix those issues until I get in contact with its creator. Otherwise I am happy with the software.
Most of this week was dedicated to start developing NPC enemies to populate the world with, as well as making items. Oh jeez, the items... those can get painful to create at times because of the game's focus on crafting and loot.
In the next week, I am going to continue to build the world, which will probably be the biggest task, as well as continue developing the achievements system I have set up which gives bonus XP for tasks (like killing X crabs, crafting X this, etc.) and can be found in the pause menu.
Unfortunately, not much screenshot-worthy stuff added this week so here is an item icon. Beat some dinos over the head!

Progress Report for Feb 1st
Generally good progress made this week (or so) on Survival of the Fittest. I got a lot of the framework done such as the character creation screen and the level-up system, which I decided will be the traditional "assign points" system. I am trying to go for innovation but I seem to be playing it safe in those areas for now.
I got a lot of the world's basic layout done too, but it isn't much to look at (or play) right now. I have the soundtrack set up too, which is some royalty free music from Incompetech, which is like the best royalty-free music site ever, in my opinion. It sounds great.
The survival system's foundation based around time has been created, and a weather system and day and night cycle have both been implemented.
Unfortunately, everything is pretty bare bones since development started around a week ago, but here are some screenshots. This site seriously needs them.
A creepy test character I created.
A quick look at the status screen.
Please give feedback! That is what it is all about.
